When I first saw this mint green cake stand it struck me as both a thing of beauty and a valuable antique. If it proved to be nothing but a thing of beauty I planned to keep it, but if it turned out to be a valuable antique I planned to give it to my mother-in-law as a Christmas present, as she collects china. A search on the internet revealed that Wood’s Beryl Ware (circa 1940) was virtually standard issue for government institutions all over England. It was common, not very collectible and therefore, all mine. Yippee!
