It came as a bit of a surprise to learn that Melbourne was not, in fact, the centre of the universe. I’d been invited to a party in Ballarat and after pulling into town, I got out my Melway only to find that Ballarat wasn’t in there. Nor, for that matter, was Bright, Beechworth or Benalla. These days, thanks to this country street directory, I can confidently get myself to shindigs all over regional Victoria. Or at least, I can get myself to a B&B and hope the proprietor is up for an amiable chat.
